Birdwatching Group visit to Sizergh Castle – Hawfinch Watch

November 1 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

An early start for a Ranger-led search for one of our most charismatic but elusive birds: the Hawfinch. Sizergh Castle is home to a small group of these birds but Hawfinch populations tend to relocate every few years and they’ve been at Sizergh for quite a while now. This could be our last chance of catching a glimpse of these charismatic, huge-billed finches in our area. Sizergh Castle is a National Trust property so parking fees are payable for non-Trust members. A fee is also payable for non-members wishing to visit the house and gardens after our search for the Hawfinches. [Our visit to Sizergh has yet to be confirmed – it we can’t go we will instead make our way to Barden Scale, a prime location for spotting a wide range of raptors.]
